Months ago I had mentioned to a friend of mine that I really wanted to take newborn photos of our daughter after she was born. But we live in Guatemala and I knew that newborn photos are so not a thing here. Granted it wasn’t really a thing 5 years ago in the US either.
While I was pregnant I had a hard enough time explaining “maternity photos” to a few photographers here that I didn’t even try explaining “newborn photos.” What would I have said, umm…can you take pictures of my baby? I’m going to undress her, lay her in a basket and place a bow three times too big on her head.”
yeah, probably would not have gone over well.
But a dear friend offered to come over and help me try to get some pictures while Elena was still tiny, sleepy and all curled up like newborns should be. So we did a little online research about how non-professionals can get some good newborn shots. For any future moms who want to take their own pictures, this site was particularly helpful! So, here are some of my favorites of 1 week old Elena:
She is so very loved!
And of course…here are some of the best outtakes– cause it takes a lot of hands, a hairdryer and quite a few shots to get some good ones 🙂
